Academic Support

Every child learns differently. Our Academic Support program ensures that every student at Good Shepherd has the resources, encouragement, and individualized attention they need to thrive.

Philosophy

Every child arrives at school with a unique set of strengths. Our approach to academic support is built on that belief. Rather than waiting for a student to fall behind, we work alongside classroom teachers to identify needs early and respond with the right kind of help — whether that's one-on-one reinforcement, small-group instruction, or a tailored learning plan.

At GSES, asking for support is a sign of strength. We make sure every student knows that.

Who We Serve

Our Academic Support program is available to students from Early Learning through 5th Grade.

We encourage families to reach out early. You don't need to wait for a report card to ask for help.

Support may be appropriate for students who:

  • Are working below grade level in one or more subjects
  • Have a diagnosed learning difference, IEP, or 504 plan
  • Would benefit from additional reinforcement alongside classroom instruction
  • Are transitioning into the school and need additional onboarding support

How It Works

1.

Reach Out

Families can contact us directly to start a conversation, or speak with their child's classroom teacher. Either is a great first step.

2.

A Conversation About Your Child

We'll talk through your child's specific needs, learning style, and goals — and connect you with the right member of our faculty team.

3.

Support That Fits

Sessions are available both during and after the school day, giving families flexibility based on their child's schedule. Support is provided by our experienced GSES faculty — so it's always connected to what's happening in the classroom.

4.

Ongoing Communication

You'll always know how your child is doing. We maintain open communication with families throughout the process and adjust as your child grows.
