The library program at Good Shepherd is a comprehensive, skills-based curriculum supporting our enthusiastic readers and information seekers. Our library aligns with our Early Learning through 5th Grade curriculum, cultivating reading skills, research abilities, and critical thinking. The library inspires imagination and wonder, instilling students with a love of reading and passion for inquiry. Students complete age-appropriate research projects using our collection of print and digital resources. Our collection and curriculum celebrate diversity, cultural awareness, and Episcopal values. The library program nurtures intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and the delight in discovery.

Fostering Lifelong Learners: Excellence in Reading & Research

The Good Shepherd library program cultivates confident, capable learners prepared for academic success and lifelong learning. Students engage in age-appropriate research projects, developing critical thinking skills using resources from picture books to digital databases.

Working with classroom teachers, our librarian provides group and one-on-one instruction to nurture independent learning and curiosity. The library also hosts reading challenges, book clubs, author visits, and family literacy events to inspire a love of reading and community engagement.

With a diverse, curated collection, students access resources that support both academic growth and personal enrichment.

In preparation for middle school and beyond, students develop essential research skills, navigating age-appropriate sources from picture books to educational websites, building confidence in academic inquiry.
